Local Elections May 2017

Local elections are scheduled to take place in Shropshire on Thursday 4 May 2017.

This means that nomination papers will need to be submitted by prospective candidates who wish to be considered for election to any of the following:

Any of the 74 seats on Shropshire Council
Any of the town council seats within Shropshire Council’s area
Any of the parish council seats within Shropshire Council’s area (including Chetton)

The notice of election for all areas is due to be published on Monday 13 March, and it’s only from then that nomination papers can be submitted.

Nomination packs are not yet available but all nomination papers must be received by the returning officer by 4pm on Tuesday 4 April 2017; the law states that nomination papers may only be delivered to the returning officer in person, and can’t be received through the post.
