Chetton Village Hall
When RAF Stanmore closed they were able to buy a barrack hut for a mere £200. It was moved to the present site and opened for public use on December 17th 1965. Since then it has doubled in size and is now a modern attractive building.
The Hall has 2 areas, one a dance floor of approx. 1200sq ft., and the other carpeted of aprox.720sq ft alongside, the dance floor section also has a stage approx. 8ft x 8ft
Recent improvements have included disabled access and toilet facilities, modernised kitchen, and separate bar. They have also installed a wood pellet boiler to ensure that the Hall is always warm (24/7) and to provide hot water at no extra charge to the users. The outside has been insulated and rendered to give a modern attractive finish.
The latest addition has been to provide a telephone and free WiFi. There is a also defibrillator on site.
There is free parking for 30/40 cars plus roadside parking
They are a registered charity and they rely on lettings and fund raisers to keep the Hall open. Their purpose is to provide an attractive venue for local organisations and to let the Hall for private functions and meetings.
